
The Net Languages First Certificate in English (FCE) practice tests are ideal for anyone planning to sit the official exam. They provide students with a real exam simulation and a realistic idea of the grade they are likely to get.
There are five practice tests in this range. Each student is assigned a personal tutor for the writing and speaking parts of the exam.
Each student is assigned a personal tutor to answer questions and give feedback on written and oral work. The support of your own personal tutor combined with stimulating online material is a very effective way of learning English.
Course contents
Reading
Practise your reading skills and learn strategies for Paper 1, the reading section of the exam. These include skimming to understand the general idea expressed in a text, scanning to find specific information, and reading in detail for the main ideas, opinions and facts.
Writing
Practise your writing skills for Paper 2, the writing section of the exam. These include completing the task appropriately, organising and linking your ideas, and writing accurately and with a good range of vocabulary. You will practise both parts of the writing section and receive useful feedback and correction from your tutor.
Use of English
Practise the five parts of Paper 3, the use of English section of the exam, including vocabulary, text completion, sentence transformations, text correction and word formation. As in all sections of the practice exams, your answers will be automatically corrected and you will be given your score.
Listening
Practise the different listening skills you will need for Paper 4, the listening section of the exam. These include listening for specific information, listening for main ideas and listening to understand the speaker's opinion.
Speaking
Practise your speaking skills for Paper 5, the speaking section of the exam. You will closely follow the format of the actual exam, where you will have to talk about yourself, describe pictures and relate them to your personal experience, as well as discuss and develop a topic, and express and justify your opinions. You will practise this section speaking with your tutor and will receive useful feedback and advice for when you do the exam.
